Dear ICFE Participant,
The third edition of the “ICFE Carpet and Floor Coverings Fair” will be held with global participation at the Istanbul Fair Center on 6–9 January 2026. Within the scope of this fair, a trend area will be created where our sector’s production, R&D, and design capacity and capabilities will be showcased, highlighting our sector’s competitive strength. During the fair, various interviews and events will take place, including the “ICFE Carpet Talks” sessions. The current carpet trends exhibition aims to inform visitors about prominent and emerging product types in carpet trade.
The “ICFE CARPET DESIGN AWARDS” are product development and design awards presented during the ICFE Carpet and Floor Coverings Fair, and this year marks the third edition. These awards are open to companies participating in the ICFE fair.
Purpose
- To encourage the development of innovative perspectives and distinctive, superior product development capabilities within the competitive environment,
• To highlight the added value created by design and innovation,
• To facilitate the promotion of successful products in the market,
• To reward and motivate successful manufacturers and designers for their efforts.
Competition Categories
- Best Modern Design
Open to carpet designs created in a modern style, appealing to contemporary tastes and targeting luxury consumption.
- Best Transitional Design (Modern–Classical Mixed Style)
A category open to carpet designs combining both classical and modern motifs or compositional elements.
- Best Classical Carpet Design
Open to designs prepared in a classical style.
- Best Mixed Weaving Technique Design
Open to carpet designs that incorporate different types of flatweave, loop, or pile weaving techniques.
- Greenest Carpet Design
Open to carpet designs created with environmental sensitivity, offering new and distinctive approaches.
Awards
There is no monetary or material prize in the competition. Companies deemed worthy of an award will receive an award plaque, along with a large ICFE DESIGN AWARDS badge to be displayed on their booth walls.
Award-winning carpets will be exhibited in the special trend area located in the entrance hall of the fair (the most notable spot). These carpets will feature infographics indicating their award status and the identity of the design-owning company. The hall and booth number of the company will also be displayed alongside its logo.
Awards will be announced on ICFE social media and at the fairground on the opening day of the fair.
Application Requirements
- Applications must be submitted by companies holding the production rights of the design.
- Only manufactured carpets may be submitted. Conceptual projects are not eligible.
- Applicants must be participants of the ICFE 2026 fair.
- Carpets submitted for the award must not exceed the dimensions of 200 × 300 cm.
- High-resolution photographs of the designs (carpets) must be sent to hali@itkib.org.tr no later than 26 December 2025.
- Along with the products, a one-page text explaining the design characteristics, the value it carries, and any distinctive features must also be sent to hali@itkib.org.tr.
- Carpets selected for awards and exhibition will be determined following the Jury evaluation and will be collected by İHİB on 5 January 2026 at the fairground.
Criteria Sought in Submitted Designs
(Products must possess one or more of the following qualities.)
- A new and distinctive emphasis in terms of design, production, or innovative features,
- A level of marketability suitable for global markets,
- Aesthetic innovation or superiority,
- Meaningful qualities related to sustainability, environmental protection, or recycling,
- Features and production methods that are rare or not widely found in the sector.
General Provisions
- Designs or innovations must not belong to another individual or company, and must not have been registered under another individual or company. Responsibility for this matter lies solely with the participating companies. In the event of documented infringement, the award may be cancelled or revoked.
• In accordance with the “Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works,” all financial rights (processing, reproduction, distribution, representation, public communication, etc.) and all legal rights related to the designs belong exclusively to the competitors participating in the contest.
• İHİB bears no legal responsibility for the originality of the submitted designs. All responsibility lies with the applicant. In such cases, following the necessary determinations, the applicant’s award will be cancelled and all given items will be reclaimed.
